The 10-point ecommerce SEO checklist we run on every new store

From Core Web Vitals to schema markup โ€” the technical checklist our SEO team uses before launch.

The checklist

  1. Crawlability: robots.txt allows product/category pages; no accidental noindex.
  2. XML sitemap submitted to Google Search Console.
  3. Core Web Vitals: LCP under 2.5s on mobile โ€” compress hero images (WebP/AVIF), lazy-load below the fold.
  4. One H1 per page with the target keyword; logical heading structure.
  5. Unique titles & meta descriptions โ€” never the platform defaults.
  6. Schema markup: Product, Organization, BreadcrumbList, and FAQPage where relevant.
  7. Canonical tags on variant and filtered URLs to avoid duplicate content.
  8. Internal linking: every product reachable within 3 clicks of the homepage.
  9. Image alt text that describes the product, not "IMG_2041".
  10. 404 & redirects: a branded 404 page, and 301s for every migrated URL.

The one most stores miss
